Trumbull Residents Speak in Favor of Youth Program

First Selectman Tim Herbst has proposed eliminating town funding for the program to save money.

It didn’t take long for many to speak against the proposal to cut town funding for the Trumbull Youth Association theater program.

A number of supporters spoke at a town budget meeting in favor of keeping funding, according to the Connecticut Post.

The program is partially funded by the town and takes in its own revenue from partcipant fees. Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst’s proposed budget eliminates town funding for the program.

One man who spoke at the meeting said the two staff members who are paid by the town effectively make less than minimum wage after calculating all the hours they put in.

The Board of Finance can submit its own budget to the town council.
