All are Invited to Attend Vernon-Rockville Little League's General Membership Meeting!

It's been 2 years since the historic merger of the 2 leagues in town - come hear about where we've been, and especially where we're headed!

All are invited to the Annual General Membership Meeting of Vernon-Rockville Little League!

On Tuesday evening, September 27th, the Vernon Rockville Little League Board of Directors will be holding our annual General Membership Meeting at the VCMS Auditorium beginning at 7:30pm. At the meeting you will hear a summary of how the year went, where we stand financially, and have an opportunity to serve on the 2016-2017 Board as this is when our General Members vote in the new board. Please join us! Your voice is welcome and encouraged!

In the last two years, as the former Rockville and Vernon leagues have come together, our community has seen a lot of change and growth. We have had many challenges and successes along the way. By far, the biggest success has been that we have established a better, stronger league for our children and others in the community. As a result, our 9/10 Softball Tournament Team won the Connecticut Section 4 Championship, our 9/10 Baseball Team won the District 8 Championship and our 9U tournament team won the annual Father’s Day Tournament! This was a direct result of the hard work put in by the Players, Coaches, Board Members and other volunteers. We are very proud of our Championship teams and will be recognizing them at our upcoming General Membership meeting. We invite you to join us in the recognition.

As with all parent volunteer based organizations, change is a constant state for us. At the meeting later this month, we will be voting in a new Board of Directors for the upcoming 2016-2017 season. Many existing Board Members will continue on to support the league, but many will not, leaving many key volunteer positions needing to be filled.

We are reaching out today, especially to the parents of younger players. When we look at the Board, most of us have children in the upper levels of the League or no longer even have children playing. In 1 or 2 years, most of the current board will have moved on as our children will have aged out of the program. In order to build on the recent successes of our league, it is imperative that parents of younger children join the Board, get involved and begin the transition into new parent leadership.

Serving on the Vernon-Rockville Little League Board of Directors is an awesome and worthwhile way to give back to the community that we are all proud to live in and be a part of!

The mission of Vernon-Rockville Little League is to “teach the children of Vernon-Rockville the fundamentals of baseball and softball while promoting good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty and respect for authority so that they will be well adjusted, strong, and happy children who grow to be good, decent, healthy and trustworthy adults. Developing exceptional athletic skills and winning games is secondary to molding exemplary citizens."

On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are reaching out to all parents, to come to our meeting, learn more about our league, become a volunteer and help us be wildly successful in our mission!!!

Very Sincerely,
The 2015-2016 VRLL Board of Directors
