• Vernon School Resource Officer Riding In Style For 2026-27 (patch.com) — Vernon students will see their school resource officer arrive in a newly repurposed, Rockville Ram–themed police cruiser when classes start Thursday. The sleek black Ford Explorer, decked out with Rockville High School logos, is meant to boost visibility of the SRO program and bring extra school spirit as it makes the rounds to Vernon schools.
   

• Vernon Drivers Take Notice: Bus Cams Going Live On First Day Of School (patch.com) — Drivers in Vernon are being warned that new BusPatrol cameras on all 37 local school buses will start recording vehicles that illegally pass when stop signs are deployed, with $250 civil fines after a 30-day warning period. Town and school leaders say the system, which can capture violations across multiple lanes on roads like Route 83, is aimed at improving student safety rather than issuing tickets.
