Joseph M. Martino

Joseph M. Martino, 78, of Rockville beloved husband of Jean (Pender) Martino, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at St Francis Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born April 29, 1933 in Hartford, CT, the son of the late James and Mary (Mazzola) Martino. He was employed by Cassone Paper and then Infoshred until he retired in 2007. Joseph was an US Army Veteran. He coached in the Rockville Little League for 25 plus years He loved watching and cheering for his grandchildren at all of their sporting events, and he was always their biggest fan.

Besides his wife he is survived by his children Robert Martino and wife Carolyn of Glastonbury , Richard Martino and wife Marlena of Plantation FL, Lisa and husband Thomas LaPoint of Southington, , Lora and husband Scott Sawicki of Durham, Nancy and husband Rob Carter of South Windsor , Michael and wife Kathie Zilahy of Glastonbury , John Pender of Ellington , and Alex and wife Chrissy Pender of Vernon, his 15 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren, and his siblings, Frances and husband Stanley Sinarski of Bloomfield, Margaret and husband Arthur of New Britain James Martino and wife Barbara of Avon, Gloria Montano and her late husband Frank of East Hartford and MaryAnn Muscillo of East Hartford, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his his first wife Jeanne (Michaud) Martino and a son Michael Martino.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 21, 2011 at 10 AM in St Bernard’s Church, 25 St Bernard’s Terrace, Rockville. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends may join the family on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect Street, Rockville, CT 06066 from 4 to 7 PM.

In lieu of flowers donations in his name may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Rockville Little League.
