College Achievements By Students From Vernon

VERNON, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Becker College, Worcester MA

• Madison Grenier of Vernon graduated with Honors with an Associate degree in Veterinary Science, Veterinary Technology Concentration from Becker College.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• More than 200 Eastern Connecticut State University students of African, Latino, Asian and Native American (ALANA) descent were honored on May 9 at the 2019 Inclusive Excellence Awards. All students who were honored achieved an overall GPA of at least 3.5. An additional 11 students were recognized for demonstrating exemplary co-curricular engagement at Eastern.
  Six students from Vernon were honored. Jazmyn Alvarez, who majors in Art, was presented with an Academic Excellence Award. Samuel Evans, who majors in Social Work, was presented with an Academic Excellence Award. Brian Gonzalez, who majors in Computer Science and Mathematics, was presented with an Academic Excellence Award. Abhiram Khade, who majors in Music, was presented with an Academic Excellence Award. Michelle Tedford, who majors in English, was presented with an Academic Excellence Award. Amanda Columbo, who majors in Labor Relations/Human Resource Management, was presented with an Academic Excellence Award.

Hofstra University, Hempstead NY

• Alicia Daigle of Vernon excelled during the spring 2019 semester, achieving a GPA of at least 3.5 to earn a spot on the Dean's List.

Lasell College, Newton MA

• The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) released the 2018-19 Academic All-Conference selections, and 101 Lasell College student-athletes have been honored. This year's list consists of 1,030 student-athletes from 13 full-time institutions and nine associate member institutions who have met the following criteria: maintaining a 3.25 cumulative grade point average, completed at least one full season of competition at a GNAC institution and is at least sophomore academically. The list included Sarah Kline of Vernon, a student-athlete on the Lasell softball team.

University of Delaware, Newark DE

• Chelsea Chatterton of Vernon has been named to the University of Delaware's Dean's List for the spring 2019 semester. To meet eligibility requirements for the Dean's List, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.33 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the semester.
