Cop Car Hit During Monday Snowstorm, Driver Facing DUI Charge
A Vernon man was arrested for drunken driving after hitting a state police cruiser on Interstate-84 during snowy weather, a report states.

VERNON, CT — A Vernon man was arrested for drunken driving after hitting a state police cruiser on Interstate-84 during snowy weather early in the week, a report states.
The crash took place at 10:59 p.m. on Monday. A state trooper was in his Ford Taurus cruiser, positioned in the right lane on I-84 eastbound, near the Exit 64/65 interchange, behind a jackknifed tractor-trailer, according to a report.
Garvey Riviero, 41, was driving a 1992 Toyota Camry in the same area and lost control of the car as he approached the crash scene, according to a report. The Camry then hit the rear bumper of the police car, according to a report.

The damage to both the cruiser and car was minor, but Riviero was arrested for driving under the influence and drving too fast for conditions, according to a report.
He was also arrested for possessing narcotics, possessing less than a half-ounce of marijuana and illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle. The type of weapon was not described in a report.

No injuries were reported. Riviero is due in court on Dec. 18, according to a report.
