Cornerstone 'Desperate' For Bottled Water As Heatwave Rages On
The Vernon-based Cornerstone Foundation needs water for shelter residents, soup kitchen clients and walk-ins trying to battle the heat.

VERNON, CT — The Cornerstone Foundation is in "desperate" need of individual bottles of water for its shelter, soup kitchen and people coming in off the street in need to hydration amid a searing heatwave.
Temperatures were again in the 90s with humid air Thursday.
Cornerstone is based on Prospect Street in Vernon and serves the region.

Cornerstone spokeswoman Alexis Flint said that about 500 bottles of water were on hand Thursday, but added, the agency was "handing them out as fast as they come in."
She added, "It's shelter residents, soup kitchen clients and walk-ins right off the street. We're just trying to keep people cool."

Water donations can be brought to the to the Cornerstone Community Kitchen at 15 Prospect St. Monday through from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
