Cornerstone Soupfest On Tap For Thursday
The annual Soupfest to benefit the Cornerstone Foundation is on tap for Thursday.

VERNON, CT — The annual Soupfest to benefit the Cornerstone Foundation is on tap for Thursday.
Soupfest runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the St. Bernard Church hall in Downtown Rockville. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. and Soup is served at 6:30 p.m.
The event featured soup tasting, raffle prizes, a silent auction, music, and fellowship.

Proceeeds go to Cornerstone programs like the soup kitchen, clothing bank, the food cupboard, shelters and the youth outreach program and community center.

The Cornerstone Foundation was founded 1982 in by local resident Helen Syriac after learning of the death of a local homeless man. What began as a small shelter in Sacred Heart Church has evolved over the years into a multi-faceted organization that provides a safety net for thousands of adults and children who are in need of temporary assistance throughout Rockville and the surrounding communities.
The Cornerstone Shelter provided 5,727 beds of shelter in the last year.
The Clairvaux House, a second shelter, helps single mothers and their children.The shelter is currently housing three mothers and their children.
The Soup Kitchen served more than 40,000 meals in the past year.
The Food Cupboard distributes to 518 families, including 1,631 individuals and approximately 16,551 meals per month.
The Clothing Bank gave away 83,423 items in the past year.
The community center provides a safe and secure haven for youths to gather for social, educational, and recreational activities.
