Enfield Man Charged For Bad Lessons In Sign Language In Front Of Vernon Students

He went off as kids were getting off a bus, police said.

VERNON, CT - A stop-sign-punching tirade in front of children returning from school led to a criminal charge against and Enfield man, Vernon police said.

John-Peter King, 24, of 38 South River Road, Enfield, is scheduled for arraignment in Rockville Superior Court on May 24, Vernon police said. He was arrested Friday on second-degree breach of peace charges, Vernon police said.

Police were called to the Dobbs Crossing apartment complex on Route 30 that day at 3:20 p.m., for a reported domestic dispute, according to an arrest report. As officers were questioning the combatants, King made two "obscene gestures" toward another person, according to an arrest report.

Officers told him one more time and he would be arrested, Vernon police said.

King did one better - he not only did he make another obscene gesture, but punched a stop sign as a school bus was unloading children and parents were standing in the driveway waiting for them, according to an arrest report.

King posted a $1,000 bond, Vernon police said.
