Flames Engulf Car On Road In Vernon

Firefighters made quick work of a car covered in flames Monday.

VERNON, CT — A car burst into flames along a winding road in Vernon Monday.

The fire broke out at 5:26 p.m. Firefighters from Vernon and Tolland rushed to Brandy Hill Road near Reservoir and found a vehicle engulfed in flames on the side of the road, officials said.

Firefighters grabbed a hose from a pumper truck and the fire was extinguished, officials said.

The road remained closed for about two hours until the vehicle was removed by a towing company.
