Free Parenting Event To Help Families Manage Stress During Summer

Join KIDSAFE CT for a FREE conference for parents: Take the Stress Out of Parenting: Get Ready for Summer on Saturday, June 16.

While many families look forward to a slower pace and some much needed time off during the summer, many parents are also concerned about managing their kids’ behaviors during this unstructured time.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or just wish you could have more patience with your kids, join KIDSAFE CT for a free conference for parents: Take the Stress Out of Parenting: Get Ready for Summer, Saturday, June 16, 2018, 8:45am – 1:00pm at the Hilton Garden Inn in Glastonbury.

The conference, geared toward parents of children ages 5-12, will include presentations and workshops by parenting experts about reducing stress in your family, supporting your child’s development, and using positive discipline strategies.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided, and free childcare (ages 5-12) and transportation from Vernon are available on a first come, first serve basis (limited slots available).

The keynote presentation, by JoAnn Robinson, PhD, will help parents learn how to reduce stress and avoid passing it along to your children. Gain practical ideas about ways to organize your family that inspire cooperation and connection. Get ready for summer by calming your brain and practicing routines that really count.

Conference goers can choose to attend one of three workshops:

  • Neuroscience in Early Childhood

    Learn about how children’s brains develop and how to support your infants and toddlers in sleeping, eating, playing and learning.
  • Parenting Special Needs Children
    by Aaron Weintraub, MS
    Acquire practical strategies to help you be the calm center for your child with anxiety, ADHD and autism.
  • Positive Discipline That Works
    by Ruth Ettenberg Freeman, LCSW
    Discover evidence-based, straightforward strategies to help improve your child’s behavior.
