Friends of Valley Falls Annual Meeting is Sept 24

The Friends of Valley Falls will hold its Annual Meeting 1-3 pm on Sunday, September 24. The meeting will be held in the Red Barn at 345 Valley Falls Road, Vernon, across from Valley Falls Farm.
Following a brief business meeting, Bev York will present “Rachel Carson.” Born in 1907, Ms. Carson was a marine biologist, author, environmentalist and conservationist. Her writings helped spark grassroots efforts to ban harmful chemicals.
Honey from the farm’s beekeepers will be for sale, along with Valley Falls items including t-shirts and notecards. Cash or check only, no credit cards. The Heritage Center will also be open after the meeting. The Center, newly opened this past June, includes six unique buildings on the property, including a 1911 stable filled with items found on the farm. The Friends have researched many of the items, as well as the farm’s history, and informational posters help tell the story of Valley Falls Farm, Park, and the surrounding area.
The meeting and presentation is open to everyone. Although parking is limited at the Red Barn, there is plenty of parking at Valley Falls Park, 300 Valley Falls Road, and walking the short path to the Barn.
