Friends of Valley Falls Summer Events

The Friends of Valley Falls is currently holding its annual membership drive for new and renewing members. Founded in 1972, the Friends is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving history and nature at Vernon’s Valley Falls Farm and Park. Membership levels include Senior, Student, Individual, Family, Preservation Partner and History Hero. With the opening of the new Heritage Center, community support is more important than ever. Located at 345 Valley Falls Road, the Center is part of an eight-acre farm that includes a historic stable, dairy barn, root cellar and three additional unique buildings. Interpretive information panels, tools and household items tell the story of the farm, its former owners and the Valley Falls area. In July and August, the Center is open 1-4 pm every Sunday. SEEKING ARTISTS FOR SEPT. EVENT

The Friends are also inviting artists who enjoy painting in the “Plein Air” style to take part in Artists Day at Valley Falls Farm to be held September 10. The event provides an afternoon of art, music, nature and history. Artists select a favorite vista at the farm, set up an easel or table in the morning, and paint outdoors on the eight-acre property. Paintings completed that day, or other artwork, can be displayed and sold in the farm’s historic red barn. Visitors are invited to watch the artists at work, bring a picnic lunch, enjoy music being performed from the farmhouse porch, or tour the new Heritage Center.
