Include Valley Falls Heritage Center for Your Next Staycation

Farm and Museum Offers History and Nature

During these summer weekends, why not have your own staycation and include the Valley Falls Farm and Heritage Center on your list? Open every Sunday in August from 1-4 pm, use the Walking Guide to explore the eight-acre historic site and its six unique buildings, or opt for a guided tour offered from 2-3 pm. Most visitors are amazed to learn the history surrounding this “Gentleman's Farm” and hearing how part of the 260-acre estate eventually became Valley Falls Park. Visitors are also welcome to enjoy the gardens and country views while newly-refurbished tables next to the stable offer a great place for a picnic lunch, reading a book, or painting your favorite Valley Falls scene. In addition to the stable and barn, visit the three-room root cellar built into the ground, an icehouse with beautiful stone walls, and the piggery with hatchways for the kids to explore. Free admission; park at the red barn welcome center, 345 Valley Falls Rd., Vernon. The Heritage Center, managed and owned by the Friends of Valley Falls, is a non-profit formed to help preserve history and nature. Visit us at www.friendsofvalleyfalls.org or find us on Facebook.
