"The Life & Legacy of Prudence Crandall through the eyes of faith," a 90-minute interactive PowerPoint presentation by Drew Crandall, will be shared during a Women's Group breakfast at River Of Life Christian Fellowship, 58 Gerber Drive on Saturday, October 14 at 9 am. Prudence Crandall is the Official Heroine of Connecticut because of her courageous stand against racism and slavery in the 1830s. Come and discover fascinating aspects of Prudence's early years, what led to her situation in Canterbury, how things came to a head, and the ripple effect of her life which continues today. Her life is an encouraging example of how one person can make a difference.
The Crandall family has a rich, nearly 400-year local and regional history. While presenter Drew Crandall is not a direct descendant of Prudence, he is part of the same Crandall family dating back to the Rev. John Crandall, who landed in Boston in 1634, was one of the founders of the first Baptist church in the New World in Providence, of the colony of Rhode Island, and of the city of Westerly. Drew participated in the grand opening of the Prudence Crandall Museum in 1984, has spoken at many events on behalf of the Crandall family, and served as President of the Friends of the Prudence Crandall Museum from 2018-2019.

Locally, the Crandall family has been in Tolland since the 1700s, when Constant, Edward, Giles and Samuel Crandall migrated there. As a result, the Crandall name is well-known in the community. Crandall Park is the Town's flagship park. Drew's business, Keep In Touch, was founded in the Tolland Business Park in 1988 and was a "Crandall Level" sponsor of Tolland's 300th anniversary celebration in 2015.
