Man Drives Car into Vernon Bank

The incident took place on Tuesday, police said.

VERNON, CT — A 67-year-old New York City man, apparently affected by medication, drove his car into the side of a bank off Route 30 on Tuesday, according to a crash report.

The incident took place Wednesday at 1:50 p.m. at the Berkshire Bank branch off Route near Rein's Deli, according to a crash report. Police received a report that a 2010 Toyota Corolla had hit the building.

Surveillance photos showed the car on the curb and against the building.

The driver, David Kummar, failed field sobriety tests but showed no alcohol in his system, according to a crash report. Police did find both Diphenhydramine and Lorzazepam in his bag and he admitted to taking the former.

He was charged with drunken driving, police said.
