Person Shot in Face With BB Gun in Vernon: Police

The incident was on Sunday in the Rockville Section of town, police said.

VERNON, CT — Vernon police said they are investigating a Sunday incident in which someone was shot in the face with a BB gun in the Rockville section of town.

First reports of the shooting emerged at about 5 p.m. Sunday near 133 Main St., police said.

The person who was shot went to Rockville General Hospital and police went searching for a vehicle that was reportedly at the scene at the time of the incident, Vernon police spokesman Lt. William Meier said.

The suspect vehicle was intercepted near 114 West St. and a passenger, 18-year-old Jakai Lopez, ran from the vehicle, Meier said.

He was chased down after a foot pursuit and charged with interfering. Lopez was also wanted on a failure to appear warrant out of New Britain Superior Court, Meier said.

Meier said the BB gun shooting is still being investigated.
