VERNON, CT — The latest installment of the Picture Vernon Series takes us to 1969, and a police evidence photo after a crash on Route 30 at Merline Road.

The photographer was looking west.

The officer closest to the camera is Sgt. (later Lieutenant) Clarence "Mickey" Neff and behind him is Officer Richard Babcock.

The third officer in the distance is unidentified.

At that time, the highway ramp for Route 15 (this is pre-Interstate-84) was across the street from HoJo's, between the Shell and Texaco Service stations.
