Picture Vernon: That's A Bunch Of Horse ... Shoes

The latest installment of the picture Vernon series.

(Vernon Historical Society)

VERNON, CT — This week's installment of the Picture Vernon series takes us to the Talcottville section of town, when horses were the primary mode of private transportation.

It's an undated photo of a blacksmith shop on Elm Street located near the entrance to Mount Hope Cemetery.

In the 1800s into the early 1900s, Talcottville was a thriving mill community that even had its own school.
