Picture Vernon: Town Welcomes Home Those Who Served In WWII

VERNON, CT — The latest installment of the Picture Vernon series takes us back to the fall of 1946 and a welcome home parade for those who a fought and served in World War II.

The date of the parade was Oct. 26, 1946.

As residents lined the streets of Downtown Rockville, float after float, with service men and woman aboard, ambled along the route to thunderous applause. Some residents even hung out of their windows to get glimpses of the heroes.
