Picture Vernon: The Windsorville Overpass, Then And Now
The latest installment of the Picture Vernon series.

VERNON, CT — The latest installment of the Picture Vernon series takes us to 1964 and a spot on Windsorville Road between today's Stop & Shop supermarket and the town's waste water treatment plant.
A low overpass was being taken down that once served a rail line. It was part of the Ellington branch, which ran from Vernon to Melrose in East Windsor.

There is a still a bridge over the Hockanum River, but it now carries hikers on the trail system not not trains. See it below:
