Presentation on the Life & Legacy of Prudence Crandall on April 29
An encouraging example of how one person can make a difference

"The Life & Legacy of Prudence Crandall through the eyes of faith," a 60-minute interactive PowerPoint presentation by Drew Crandall, will be held at The Oasis, an 1800s storefront at 3 Elm Street next to Union Church in historic downtown Rockville, on Saturday, April 29 at 10 a.m. Admission is free and dress is casual. Complimentary coffee, juice, water and snacks will be provided.
Prudence Crandall is the Official Heroine of Connecticut because of her courageous stand against racism and slavery in the 1830s. Come and discover fascinating things about Prudence's early years, what led to her situation in Canterbury, how things came to a head, and the ripple effect of her life which continues today. Her life is an encouraging example of how one person can make a difference.
The Crandall family has been in Connecticut for nearly 400 years. While not a direct descendant of Prudence, presenter Drew Crandall is part of the same Crandall family dating back to the Rev. John Crandall, who landed in Boston in 1634. Drew participated in the grand opening of the Prudence Crandall Museum in 1984, has spoken at many events on behalf of the Crandall family, and served as President of the Friends of the Prudence Crandall Museum from 2018-2019.
