RHS Runners Shine Down by the Riverside

RHS had a one-two finish in the girls race.

The Rockville High School boys and girls cross country teams competed - and fared well with Shayla Schoeneberger winning her girls race - in the sixth-annual Hartford Riverfront Cross Country Festival on Saturday.
 
The meet took place at Riverside Park in Hartford.

The Ram boys team competed in the open varsity race, which had 62 entires. Rockville placed fifth out of nine teams.

Leading the way for the RHS boys were Sean O’Gara (eighth overall, 18:29), Stephen Hatch (14th, 19:05), Adam Barselau (18th, 19:18), Jacob Kennedy (27th, 20:06), Tyler Hull (40th, 21:10). 

It was O’Gara's second top-10 finish. He was ninth in a tri-meet on Tuesday against E.O. Smith and RHAM in Mansfield. 

The Rockville girls finished second out of four teams in Hartford.

Schoeneberger's winning time was 21:02. She was followed by Chelsea Chatterton in second place (21:04), Laura Dawson (12th, 24:20), Mariah Wine (14th, 24:34) and Ashley Starrett (15th, 24:41).

Haley Hasty completed in the Girls’ Varsity Invite race and finished third overall with a time of 18:41 out of 42 runners.
