Rockville Girls Setting a Fast Pace So Far in 2013

Haley Hasty, Shayla Schoeneberger and Chelsea Chatterton are running well.

The Rockville High School girls cross country team is off to one of its best starts in years. 

After starting the season with a scrimmage against Capitol Prep, one of the most anticipated meets of the season, the Rams dropped their first tri-meet to two of the best teams in the CCC East, E.O. Smith and RHAM. 

Haley Hasty who won the first race by more than 50 meters against one of the state’s best distance runners in Chrissy Bedzinski of RHAM.

RHS went on to the Riverfront Cross Country Invitational, where the team captured the runner-up title in the Open Race without Hasty, who was ushered into the invitational race. 

The Open Race effort was led by Shayla Schoeneberger and Chelsea Chatterton who ran the 5K in 21:01 and 21:05 respectively. Following close behind was Laura Dawson, Ashley Starrett, Mariah Wine and Wendy Weston.

In the championship invitational race, Hasty broke the school record for the third time this season by running a personal best 18:41, just missing the championship title by two places and less than two seconds. 

Recently the Rams Cross defeated Rocky Hill and Hartford Public High School in their last tri-meet.
