Rockville Public Library Announces September 9 Reopen Date

(VERNON, CT) – The Rockville Public Library will reopen to the public Wednesday, September 9, 2020, with expanded curbside pickup of library materials, newly installed computers and procedures to ensure patron and staff safety.

“The Rockville Public Library is a critical part of our community and I am delighted it is reopening to provide our residents additional access to the many resources it has to offer,” Mayor Daniel A. Champagne said. “Most importantly, we have taken steps to keep patrons and staff safe as we continue to move forward with our reopening and recovery efforts.”

The library will be open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Patrons can make
appointments for 30-minute time slots to browse the collection. The reservations are intended to ensure visitors to the library can meet social distancing and current public health guidelines.

“We are looking forward to seeing our patrons back inside the library browsing additions to our collection and taking full advantage of the many services we offer the community,” Library Director Jennifer Johnston said. “And for those who still have concerns about leaving their homes, we are pleased to be expanding our curbside pickup program. We are here to do all we can to help our residents get the most from their library.”

Curbside pickup hours have been expanded to:
• Tuesdays, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.
• Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 6:30 p.m.

Patrons who are not able to do curbside pickup during those hours can call the library to make special arrangements.

Visitors to the library must wear face coverings and are encouraged to use hand sanitizer, which will be available.
