Behind Trask in cross country, the Rams placed second in both the class meet and State Open in 1991 after capturing 3rd in Class LL and fourth in the Open in 1990. RHS won the CCC-East in each of Trask’s final three years, when the Rams rung up a perfect regular-season 64-0 record in that span with the help of their three-time All-CCC selection.
A three-year member of the baseball team, Trask was a left-handed pitcher and outfielder whose teams won 46 and lost 21 overall — including 29-13 and two second-place finishes in the CCC-East. As a sophomore in 1990, Trask helped the Rams to a 16-8 overall record and three wins in the Class “LL” tournament which boosted the club into the tournament semifinals for the first time in nine years.
Teaming with two fellow RHS Hall of Famers, Trask’s junior season of 1991 produced one of the best baseball teams in program history. That team fell one win shy of sharing the CCC-East title, earning the No. 4 seed in the Class “LL” tournament and a final overall record of 17-3, 11-3 in the conference.
Trask retains two enduring memories of his baseball career: a complete-game, two-hit shutout of Hartford Public without a walk in his junior year that kept the Rams unbeaten and in contention for the conference championship, and a 4-3 home victory over perennial CCC-East champion East Hartford as a senior. In that game– the first win for the Rams over EHHS in four years – Trask helped himself to the win in relief after tripling and scoring the winning run in the bottom of the eighth on a single by Jack Biggs.
Following graduation, Trask pitched for four years at RPI, helping the Engineers, as a senior, to the first of three straight unbeaten conference seasons and into the NCAA Division III national tournament.
Trask holds a B.S. Degree in Mathematics from RPI and an MBA in Finance from the University of Hartford. Meg and Sean Trask reside in Greenville, SC with their two teenage daughters. Formerly the COO and Vice President of Finance for the United Way of Greenville County, Trask is currently proprietor of Mr. Appliance of Greater Greenville.
