VERNON, CT — A suspected drunken woman drove away from the scene of a fight in the Rockville section of Vernon Sunday and nearly hit a pedestrian while trying to elude arrest, police said. She was eventually captured, but not before fighting with officers, an arrest report shows.

The incident took place Sunday at 4:38 p.m., police said.

According to an arrest report, officers responded to a home on Prospect Street after a fight broke out between two women. One of them, who seemed to be drunk, was trying to drive away from the scene and eventually succeeded, according to an arrest report. The other person at the scene had sustained minor injuries and was taken to Rockville General Hospital, according to an arrest report.

The suspected drunken driver made it to West Street, but was corralled by police after two attempts to stop her at an apartment complex, according to an arrest report. She nearly ran over a pedestrian, and, after exiting the car, slapped an officer on the shoulder with both hands before being wrestled to the ground, according to an arrest report.

She showed "obvious signs of impairment," but did not cooperate with field sobriety tests, according to an arrest report.

The woman, identified as Jadyia Lewis, 22, of Vernon, was booked on a variety of charges, including third-degree assault, assault on a public safety officer, reckless driving, driving under the influence, interfering with police and second-degree breach of peace, records show. She was held overnight on a $75,000 bond and was to appear in Rockville Superior Court Monday, according to an arrest report.
