Tuesday: Day 2 Of IT Restrictions At Vernon Schools, Offices
Tuesday was Day 2 of online restrictions at schools and offices in Vernon amid an IT security probe.

VERNON, CT — Schools and municipal offices in Vernon were without internet access or external e-mail capabilities for a second straight day on Tuesday while town officials continued to investigate a potential security breach.
Vernon Police Department spokesman Lt. William Meier said local officials discovered what was termed "a potential for unauthorized access" to the town's network on Saturday and officials then temporarily disabled e-mail and internet access as a precaution.
No personal or proprietary information was accessed on either the town or education side, he said.

On Tuesday, classes were again taking place, just without computers, at local schools. At town offices, business was able to be conducted as all internal systems were working, but there was no online access and no external e-mails coming or going townwide, Meier said.
An investigation is ongoing. Meier said it would be premature to offer a timetable for full restoration.
