Union Church to Celebrate 125th Anniversary

A spectacular event is slated for Sept. 19.

“Weaving Goodness in Rockville for 125 Years” will be the theme of a multi-media sight and sound Gala on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the gorgeous 600-seat sanctuary at Union Church, 3 Elm Street in the Rockville section of Vernon.

The anniversary celebration will trace the genesis of Union Church, from mid-September of 1890 when the huge granite structure was dedicated, to the present, with a glimpse into the future. The event is free and open to the public. Dress is casual.

“This event will appeal to a broad spectrum of local citizens, from kids to seniors” says organizer Drew Crandall, who will serve as emcee dressed as the Rev. James Dingwell, the first pastor of Union Church. “First, people who have been affiliated, connected with, or touched by Union Church will enjoy this unique celebration and family reunion. Second, people with a passion for Rockville history will be intrigued by this fascinating journey through time. Third, people who are just looking for a fun, family-friendly Saturday night out will find this event very uplifting.”
