The Valley Falls Heritage Center will be open 1-4 pm on Sunday, July 30. The eight-acre farm, located at 345 Valley Falls Road in Vernon, includes a stable, dairy barn, root cellar and three additional historical structures. In addition to the unique features each building offers, visitors will find interpretive information panels, tools and household items that tell the story of the farm and the Valley Falls area. Interactive displays and picnic areas on the scenic property make it a great place for all ages to visit. Admission is free; park in the lot where the red barn is located or at Valley Falls Park and walk the short hillside path to the barn. The Heritage Center will also be open every Sunday in August, from 1-4 pm. Those wanting to join the Friends of Valley Falls to help maintain the Heritage Center and Farm can fill out a membership form at the Center. Forms can also be downloaded at www.friendsofvalleyfalls.org. Founded in 1972, the Friends of Valley Falls, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving history and nature.
