Vernon Business Owners: 'We Might Be For Sale, But We're Open'
The owners of a bakery in town had a message for the community recently — the business is for sale but it's also open for business.

VERNON, CT — The owners of Great harvest Bread Co. in Vernon recently sent out a message to the community — the business might be for sale, but it's also open for business.
"Just a friendly reminder that we are open and not closed closed," they said on their Facebook page. "There has been a lot of confusion circulating that we are closed, but we are open and operating as usual. However, we are still for sale and just looking to pass the torch to new owners."
In May, Great Harvest Bread Co. owners Jean and Dale Roberts said they were retiring. The bakery is for sale, they said, but added it was time to unwind after owning and operating Great Harvest in both Manchester and Vernon for 21 years.

They said, "We are looking for an individual(s) to take over the well-established bakery that has much more room to expand. This is an incredible opportunity for those who are looking to invest in a well-known bakery. The territory for the bakery is quite large, 210 square miles in fact! This makes the opportunity for hub locations very possible."
The bakery was started in Manchester, in 1996, and the Roberts purchased it in 2003.
It was on Main Street in Manchester for a decade, but the location was lost to a fire in another section of the building.
