Man Arrested After Shots Fired, Brief Standoff In Vernon
A police standoff ended with charges against a Vernon man, police said.

VERNON, CT — A 36-year-old man was taken into custody early Sunday morning after he barricaded himself inside a Vernon home following shots being fired, police said.
The altercation took place at 12:34 a.m., according to a police incident report.
Police said in the report that Michael Methot, of Vernon, had fired a gun several times and barricaded himself inside a in the area of Old Dobson Road.

The Capital Region Emergency Services Team was called in to assist at the standoff and, a short time later, Methot was successfully taken into custody without incident, according to the incident report.
He was charged with the illegal discharge of a firearm, illegal carrying of a firearm under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, second-degree breach of peace, first-degree threatening, third-degree assault, disorderly conduct and first-degree reckless endangerment.

Methot was held over the remainder of the weekend in lieu of a $250,000 bond and was to appear in Rockville Superior Monday, police said.
