Dorothy L. Kies, 93, of Vernon, beloved wife of the late Vincent “Nathan” Kies, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2015.

She was born July 8, 1922 in Bolton CT, daughter of the late William and Dorothea (Von Deck) Sitzy. She retired from SNET (Southern New England Telephone Company) in 1985 after 21 years of service and went on to volunteer at Rockville General Hospital, and at the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. She is survived by her son Robert Kies and his wife Karen and her daughter Susan Frazee and her husband Spencer all of Tolland, her grandchildren Jessica Brown and her fiancé Kip Wyman, Brian Frazee and his wife Michelle and their children Avery and Quinn, and Adam Kies and Julia Nadeau and their son Gannon. She was predeceased by her brother Emil Lee.

Dorothy’s greatest joy was time spent with her family. Although Dorothy was sick with dementia over the last five years the disease never completely robbed her of her sassy and fun loving personality. She remained gracious and spirited to keep us and her wonderful caretakers at Vernon Manor smiling, helping us all through such a tumultuous time. The family wishes to give a heartfelt thank you to those at Vernon Manor that took such loving care of her.
