Vernon Police Issue Details About Morning Altercation
A man fleeing the dispute was struck by a car.
Details are beginning to emerge about an early-morning incident in Rockville Thursday.
Vernon Police Lt. William Meier issued a statement late Thursday afternoon:
“On Thursday August 20, 2015 at about 3:10 a.m. Vernon Police received calls of a motor vehicle accident on Orchard Street, near Union Street. Police Officers responded and found a 31 year old Manchester resident who had been struck by a vehicle. This male had suffered injuries and was brought to Rockville General Hospital. Due to his injuries, he was transferred to Hartford Hospital. The male is presently in stable condition with injuries that are not life threatening and his identity is not being released at this time.
Through investigation, Vernon Police Officers and Detectives determined the person struck by the vehicle had been fleeing an altercation that occurred nearby on West Main Street. The altercation began inside an apartment, then carried out onto the street and involved several people. During this altercation, another vehicle involved had its tires slashed.
