Vernon Police Issue Statement, Photos Related to Robbery Attempt
Detectives are searching for the man who demanded money while brandishing a box cutter.
Vernon police have issued the following prepared statement and released two photographs related to this afternoon’s attempted robbery at a Rockville 7-11 store:
“On Thursday November 19, 2015 at approximately noon, a white male, approximately 6’ tall, thin build, wearing a black ski mask, two-tone sweatshirt (possibly gray colored body with black sleeves), dark colored pants and dark colored shoes walked into the 7-11 store, located at 180 Union Street in Rockville, displayed a box cutter and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk behind the counter refused the suspect’s demands. The suspect then fled the store on foot without any money. The suspect was last seen running on West Street toward Grant Street, which is in close proximity to the Ellington town line.
Vernon police officers responded to the scene. Police officers thoroughly checked the area and were assisted by a K9 unit from Manchester Police Department. The suspect was not located. Vernon detectives arrived on scene and collected evidence.

At the time of the robbery, there were customers leaving the store, who would have seen the suspect approaching. There was also heavy traffic on West Street, where we believe witnesses may have seen the suspect walking to the store and later, running from the store. Anyone who may have witnessed this robbery suspect is asked to call Vernon detectives at 860-872-9126. Callers can remain anonymous.”
Photos made from video surveillance highlight the unique design on the top of the suspect’s hat.
