Vernon Theft Suspect Caught Via Phone Left At Scene: Report
A suspect was arrested in a Vernon vehicular theft incident, police said.

VERNON, CT — A cell phone left at the scene of the crime led to the arrest of a Hartford man in the case of a vehicular burglary in Vernon, police said.
According to a warrant, the case dates back to Sept. 26. That day, cars at two homes on Laurel Road were broken into overnight — a gray, 2008 Mercedes-Benz C300 and a silver 2013 Cadillac Escalade, bearing CT registration AT26290. They were not locked but the keys were not inside, police said.
The owner of the Escalade said her debit card was missing as well as three pairs of sun glasses, each worth approximately $400, according to a warrant. She said that no money was taken from her debit card and she had already canceled it, according ot a warrant.

The owner of the Mecedes located a cell phone in her vehicle that did not belong to her, according to a warrant. The car owners then opened the Facebook app on the phone and noticed that the account belonged to someone named "Shy Numbanine."
He wound up being Shykeim Lewis, a 20-year-old Hartford resident who has been involved in several area car thefts in the area, according to a warrant.

The pictures of Shykeim Lewis and the Facebook profile of "Shy Numbanine" appeared to match, police said.
Lewis was arrested on Tuesday while being held on various charges in Hartford, according to police.
He was charged in Vernon with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree larceny and illegally taking a credit card, according to a report. He was being held on a $10,000 bond for the Vernon charges after a Tuesday arraignment, police said.
A warrant stated that Lewis was arrested for being in possession of a Honda Accord stolen from Cubles Road in Vernon, Sept. 26. He admitted to stealing the car, but stated he couldn't remember from what town he stole it.
