Vernon Woman Charged After Incident At Town Hall: Report
A Vernon woman was charged after a disturbance at town hall, according to a police report.

VERNON, CT — A Vernon woman wound up with a second-degree breach of peace charge after a disturbance at town hall Thursday, police said.
The incident took place just before 10 a.m., police records show.
According to a report, 41-year-old Carlyann Merrill showed up at Vernon Town Hall and, via the front door intercom, demanded an "immediate" meeting with senior town officials, according to a police report.

Merrill was told that, because of coronavirus protocol, face-to-face meetings are arranged by appointment only, a police report indicates.
Merrill is accused of refusing to leave the premises and going on a tirade that included foul language while repeatedly hitting the intercom button, a police report indicates. Others waiting on the town hall sidewalk outside and municipal staffers inside then became "fearful," according to a police report.

Police were called and Merrill was arrested, according to a report. She is due in court on Nov. 27, records show.
