WEATHER UPDATE: Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Vernon

It’s already a wet one out there, and it’s only going to get worse as the day continues on Tuesday.

In fact, rain is forecast up until midnight and before it ends we could see 1-2 inches of rain for the whole state of Connecticut.

Besides the rain there could be flooding and severe thunderstorms to contend with.

The worst of the weather is forecast for Fairfield and New Haven counties where a “Flash Flood Watch” is in effect until 4 p.m. Tuesday, along with a “Hazardous Weather Outlook.”

According to the National Weather Service statement, “showers and thunderstorms … could produce heavy rain capable of causing mainly urban flash flooding.”

WIDESPREAD...URBAN AREAS THAT RECEIVE THE HEAVIEST AMOUNTS COULD EXPERIENCE DISRUPTIVE IMPACTS,” the NWS states.

Middlesex and New London counties have a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” which states there is a “marginal risk of severe storms today,” and possibly damaging wind, and up to 2 inches of rain, which could fall until midnight.

Hartford and Tolland counties also have a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” as “showers and thunderstorms may produce locally heavy rainfall this afternoon and tonight,” the advisory states.

Again, flooding is possible in Hartford and Tolland counties along with the chance of a few strong thunderstorms and accompanying strong wind gusts.

The weather service says showers are likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 11am.

Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. High near 77. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Tonight, Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 2am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Patchy fog between 9pm and 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. South wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
