Local educators and community partners will work directly with Wallingford families to identify barriers to attendance, connect them with resources, and build stronger school-family relationships as part of a statewide effort that has already reduced chronic absenteeism.

Fire Displaces Resident In Wallingford (patch.com) β A Wallingford resident was forced from their home after a fire on Heritage Woods, but the American Red Cross is providing immediate assistance and recovery guidance. Wallingford firefighters also rescued a cat from the home and reunited it with its owner, while Red Cross volunteers supplied comfort kits and information to help the resident begin rebuilding.

Man Assaulted Employee With Knife At Movie Theater In Wallingford: Police (patch.com) β Wallingford police say a security guard at Holiday Cinemas on North Colony Road suffered minor head cuts after a patron allegedly pulled a pocketknife during an altercation over smoking rules. Officers stopped the suspect's vehicle on Barnes Road, arrested 25-year-old Brayden Drobish of Wallingford, and charged him with assault, breach of peace, and carrying a dangerous weapon.

Scam Alert Issued In Wallingford (patch.com) β Wallingford officials are warning electric customers about scam callers demanding immediate bill payment from an 844 number and threatening same-day shutoffs. Residents are urged not to share banking information, not to call the scam number back, and instead contact Wallingford Electric Division customer service directly using the official phone number on their bill.

CT First: Venomous Spiders Found In Wallingford Apartments Likely Lived There For Years (dailyvoice.com) β Residents in a Wallingford apartment building discovered a long-established population of Mediterranean recluse spiders, a venomous species never before documented in Connecticut. Experts say the spiders likely arrived on furniture, prefer dark basements, and pose little threat to people while helping control cockroaches and termites, but the building has been treated by pest control professionals.
