Bullied Student Celebrates Graduation With Private Ceremony In Wallingford

The student spent her senior year out of the classroom and received tutoring at the local library.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford school officials made sure a bullied student who spent her senior year out of the classroom had a graduation ceremony that she will never forget. While Lyman Hall High School was set to hold its commencement ceremonies on Friday night, Mackenzie Torcello received her diploma earlier this week in a private graduation ceremony, according to FOX 61.

FOX 61 reports Torcello, who is on the Autism spectrum, hasn’t liked going to school since middle school and instead of spending her senior year in a classroom at Lyman Hall, the school district provided tutoring for her at Wallingford Public Library. Torcello told FOX 61 that the years of bullying from her peers made her “terrible” and “worthless.”
