A Happy Tail: Stolen Dog Reunited with Owner in Wallingford

Casper, the 12-year-old Pomeranian who was stolen from a parked car, was found by a real-estate broker at a Meriden home.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Casper, the 12-year-old Pomeranian who was stolen from a car in the Staples Plaza, had a heartwarming reunion with his distraught owner on Wednesday evening, according to Wallingford Police.

A concerned citizen, who was identified as Diana Brandi of Bristol, came to Wallingford Police headquarters carrying Casper at about 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 21.

Brandi is a real-estate broker and first noticed Casper sitting on the front lawn of a home she was showing on Hanover Street in Meriden at around 12:30 p.m., according to Lt. Richard Homestead.

After showing the home, she noticed the dog still on the front lawn and shaking. She brought Casper to her home where a friend informed her that it looked like the dog missing from Wallingford. Brandi then drove to the Wallingford Police station with Casper.

Casper’s owner, who was in Wallingford at the time, was notified and responded to the Wallingford Police station.

“A heartwarming reunion between Casper and his owner took place when Ms. Brandi transferred custody,” Homestead said in a press release. “Casper appeared to be in good health and was overjoyed upon seeing his owner.

“The Wallingford Police Department would like to thank Ms. Brandi for her assistance as well as the media who ran this story and made the public aware that Casper was missing and what he looked like.”

Police are continuing to investigate Casper’s initial theft.
