More Details Emerge in Wallingford Shooting That Left One Man Injured: UPDATE
Police are investigating the shooting, which occurred around 9 p.m. on Thursday, and say the man sustained non-life threatening injuries.

UPDATE: A 19-year-old Milford man was shot in the stomach in Wallingford Thursday night, police said.
The man was with his girlfriend at the time of the shooting, police said. Once, her boyfriend was shot, she did an Internet search to find the nearest hospital and drove him to a rehab facility in town believing it was a hospital, Lt. Michael Colavolpe said in a press release.
The victim then called 911 asking for help and they told him to pull over and emergency crews arrived at the elementary school parking lot where they assisted the victim, according to Colavolpe.

Wallingford Police first received a 911 call around 9 p.m. Thursday from a male stating that he got shot and was currently in the parking lot of 57 Hall Road, Cook Hill Elementary School.
Responding officers found a male with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. During the initial investigation, it was learned that the shooting occurred at CT Beverage Mart, located at 1070 North Colony Road, according to Colavolpe.

The victim was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Colavolpe said the victim and his 18-year-old companion from Bridgeport were at CT Beverage Mart to meet up with another individual, later determined to be the suspect.
During the meeting, the suspect shot the victim as the two were speaking on the side of CT Beverage Mart and at this time it's unclear what led to the shooting, Colavolpe said.
The victim’s companion did an internet search for the nearest hospital and drove the victim to Gaylord Hospital, believing he could get treatment there.
After arriving at Gaylord and being turned away, the victim called 911 and the dispatcher told them to pull over, essentially into the parking lot of Cook Hill School, Colavolpe said.
The investigation continued throughout the evening. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Det. Fairbrother at 203-294-2845.
