New Pancheros Mexican Grill Opens In Wallingford

The restaurant celebrated its grand opening this week.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Soon after watching the former Villa Capri banquet facility be demolished, the Mesite family saw their latest restaurant venture open this week in Wallingford.

The new Pancheros Mexican Grill celebrated its grand opening on Tuesday in the new strip plaza located at 893 North Colony Road, the New Haven Register reports.

The Pancheros website boasts that its “Better Built Burritos are in a league of their own. Standing tall as they are proud, tasty as they are sturdy. Standing boldly above their lesser-built burrito peers.”

Luther Turmelle of the Register reports that Robert Mesite, owner of the new Wallingford location, is planning on adding a Pancheros in Milford and at least one other location in Connecticut within the next year or so.

The Mesite family sold the Villa Capri property last year so they could continue to concentrate on running their Sonic of CT franchise restaurants. They opened the state’s first Sonic on the site of the former Yankee Silversmith Inn, which they also owned, in Wallingford.
