Own a Piece of Villa Capri Before It's Demolished

A public sale/auction will be held for the items in the popular wedding facility, which recently closed after 56 years of making memories.

WALLINGFORD, CT — After helping make countless memories with 56 years of hosting weddings, banquets and numerous events, Villa Capri in Wallingford officially closed its doors with one final wedding in late July.

Now, members of the community will be able to bring some of the memories home with a piece of Villa Capri as part of a public auction/sale.

The Mesite Family, owners of the Villa Capri Wedding & Banquet facility on North Colony Road, decided to hold the auction and sale after receiving so much feedback from the public about having a piece of the Villa for memories after they announced they would close it.

Villa Capri, which was founded in 1960 by George and Rosalie Mesite, will be demolished to make way for a new Cumberland Farms at the North Colony Road site.

The Mesite family announced in February that it would sell the property and close the facility this summer, saying it was a difficult decision, “but we have decided to move on to the next chapter in our lives while keeping many fond, wonderful memories.”

Back in the day, Villa Capri was primarily a restaurant that featured Italian American Cuisine. Weekends would be filled with customers dancing away to live Italian/American music while hosting several weddings and banquet events as well. It soon became a popular place to host weddings and events in central Connecticut.

“Our family looks forward to the future and will continue to concentrate on running all of our franchise stores, Sonic of CT, and building our other business investments and new ventures to come,” the family said in a statement. “We would like to thank all our loyal customers, present and past, our family and friends, our vendors we have worked and networked with through the years and a SPECIAL THANK YOU going out to all our hardworking staff that have been with us through the years, some of which have been with us for close to 30 years!

“We are forever grateful for their hard work and dedication, helping our family to be able to provide excellence in service to our customers.”
