Wallingford Man Charged With DUI After Wrong-Way Crashes On I-91
The man is accused of striking several vehicles while driving the wrong way on I-91 in North Haven over the weekend, according to police.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — A Wallingford man was arrested on DUI and other charges in connection with a wrong-way crash on I-91 in North Haven over the weekend, according to Connecticut State Police.
Around 7:10 p.m. on Saturday, state troopers responded to a report of a wrong-way driver on I-91 traveling north in the southbound lanes from Exit 12 in North Haven. While troopers were responding, police said the same vehicle reportedly struck multiple cars and continued northbound.
Troopers found and stopped the vehicle between Exits 14 and 15 on I-91 South in Wallingford, police said.

The driver, identified as Matteo Annunziata, was determined to be operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, according to police. He was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for evaluation and arrested, police said.
No other injuries were reported.

Annunziata, 55, of Wharton Brook Drive, was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol/drugs, evading responsibility, failure to drive in proper lane and driving wrong way – one-way street. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond with a court date of Oct. 29.
