Wallingford Mayor to Get Raise if Council's Amended Budget is Adopted

The council voted on a salary increase for the mayor and overtime costs for the annual fireworks show at a special meeting.

At a special meeting Tuesday night, the Wallingford Town Council voted to increase Mayor William W. Dickinson Jr.’s proposed budget by $24,560, including funds to raise the mayor’s salary and to cover overtime costs for the annual Fourth of July fireworks show, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.

The Record-Journal reports that if the amended budget is approved, the mayor’s salary would increase from $85,140 to $96,000. The town’s tax rate would also increase from 26.89 mills to 27.47 if the amended budget is approved.

Dickinson can veto the budget but told the Record-Journal on Wednesday that he doesn’t intend to but wants to see the whole budget first before making a decision.
