Wallingford Names New Police Chief
Deputy Police Chief William Wright will take over the top spot in February.

Wallingford Deputy Police Chief William Wright will take over the department’s top spot when current Chief Douglas Dortenzio retires, according to the New Haven Register.
Wright, 51, who began his career with the department in 1995 as a patrolman, told the Meriden Record-Journal that his intimate knowledge of the department will allow him to hit the ground running when he assumes command on Feb. 16.

Wright, who will make $124,000, was one of five finalists who were selected from a field of nine or 10 candidates that were reviewed by the South Central Regional Criminal Justice Administration, a regional testing organization for law enforcement, according to the Register.
