Wallingford Police Offer Tips For Enjoying Quinnipiac River Linear Trail

With the warmer weather, use of the trail will increase.

WALLINGFORD, CT — As the weather gets warmer, Wallingford police anticipate an increase in use of the town's Quinnipiac River Linear Trail, and the department is offering tips to help residents enjoy it.

Please use caution on and around the trail, which now stretches from Community Lake on Hall Avenue to Fireworks Island located just off of Main Street in Yalesville.

"The Wallingford Police Department would like to remind all users of the trail that access to and egress from Fireworks Island is limited to vehicular traffic only when passing through the Yalesville on the Green condominium complex which is located at 380 Main Street and is privately owned," wrote officials in a statement. "Pedestrian and bicycle traffic is strictly prohibited. There is ample signage on both ends of the condominium complex property explaining this."

They added, "The residents of Yalesville on the Green have expressed concern that these rules are not being followed and that pedestrian and bicycle traffic is passing through their property. As a result, the Wallingford Police Department will be stepping up patrols of the trail and taking enforcement action against those who violate these clearly marked signs. Anyone caught passing through this private property other than in a motor vehicle, could be cited with Simple Trespass which carries with it a $92.00 fine."
