Hope the Chihuahua May Have a New Home Soon
It's been a long, strange trip for this tiny dog but she has proven to be one tough pup!

If you’ve been keeping up with the story of Hope the Chihuahua, you know that she has led quite the life so far!
She came to Waterford-East Lyme Animal Control as a frightened, abandoned dog, left outside the shelter during overnight hours. Animal Control Officer Robert Yuchniuk wasn’t sure she would survive. The initial prognosis was that she was blind, lame, elderly and incontinent.
Over the course of a week, a lot happened with Hope. First, Yuchniuk issued a passionate statement on Facebook, reminding people about what it means to be a good pet owner. Then, the dog started showing encouraging progress.

Yuchniuk discovered that she wasn’t as old as was initially suspected and due to her improvement, she was given the name we now associate with her — Hope.
Imagine that — in six days time, the Chihuahua went from potentially undergoing euthanization to now being available for adoption. (Check out the before and after picture attached to this article — the “after” photo is on the right.)

Hope happily trots around the shelter and visited the vet for tests, a teeth cleaning and tumor removal.
Now, Yuchniuk said Hope may be in a new home as early as Friday, August 22. He said she feels better every day and he is narrowing down the list of adoption candidates.
“Keep your fingers crossed for this little girl that we have all come to love,” he said.
