Waterford Green Fills Flood, Erosion Board Vacancy

The co-chair of the Waterford Green Party chapter was recently sworn in as a full member of Waterford Flood and Erosion Control Board.

WATERFORD, CT - Baird Welch-Collins was sworn in as a full member of the Town of Waterford’s Flood and Erosion Control Board on Tuesday morning. Welch-Collins is a registered Green and both a co-founder and co-chair of the Waterford Green Party chapter.

This event marks the first time a green has been appointed as a full member to a Waterford board or commission, bringing the total number of Green seats in the town government up to 3, according to a release. (To sign up for Waterford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Aside from alternate positions on the Conservation Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals, the party has also had two members become Justices of the Peace, including Welch-Collins.

The Waterford Greens are expecting to run a larger slate of candidates in the 2017 election than they previously have, with the aim of increasing the number of seats they hold in the town government. Their nominating convention will be held on Saturday, June 17, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Waterford Public Library basement meeting room.
